Any modern economy (a land plot with a summer cottage, for example) is incapable of functioning normally if it is not connected to power grids. But before tackling this procedure, you will need to familiarize yourself with all its details, including the documentation and the technical part of the project. So that connecting electricity to the site or house does not turn into a tedious procedure, you should also figure out in advance the procedure for the upcoming actions to obtain a permit.

General procedure for connecting
First of all, you need to figure out what special documents regulate the procedure for connecting to power grids. The main one is the "Rules for Technological Connection to Electric Grids", approved by the RF PP N 861. Before reading the instructions for connection, remember that the companies supplying electricity are divided into three types:
- Generating producers that produce electricity legally.
- Power sales - firms that buy electricity in bulk and then sell it at retail to private consumers.
- Power grid - the owners of power lines, as well as power substations with distribution equipment, transformers and cable outlets.
Power grid companies ensure the transfer of energy resources from the substation to the end user.
It is easiest to present the procedure for connecting an electricity source to any object in the form of a specific sequence of actions.

Which network organization to connect to
To connect electricity to any capital facility, you need to decide on the grid organization located in the immediate vicinity of it. After such a company has been found, you should contact its representative to obtain a technical specification for connecting to the power supply network and the corresponding draft contract.
It is quite easy to find the network company closest to the selected object if you use a special reference book issued for each region of Russia.
If it is impossible to find information on your own, you can send a request to a local government representative for choosing a convenient for physical connection to the electrical network.It should describe in detail the location of the connected object, which will allow you to easily establish its belonging. After that, you should wait for the corresponding decision, which should be prepared no later than 15 days after the request was submitted.
Connection specifications and connection options
- Wiring plan for the object.
- Type and location of the switch cabinet.
- List of protective equipment, including electricity meters and machines.
- Breakdown of connected consumers into groups.
The TU must indicate the power allocated to the consumer (it should not exceed 15 kW).
In addition to the technical conditions for power supply, an act of balance sheet ownership is being prepared, which stipulates the issue of delimiting the areas of responsibility of the supplying company and the consumer. In the presence of this document, it is possible to distribute the responsibilities of the parties to maintain a section of the electrical network.
List of documents for concluding an agreement for technological connection
To conclude an agreement between the two parties, you will need to prepare a package of documents, which includes the following items:
- Proof of identity of the applicant.
- Layout of electrical consumers.
- Single-line diagram showing the class of electrical networks.
- List and capacity of electrical receivers.
- A copy of the document confirming the right to own the connected object.
The set of documents may vary depending on the form of ownership of the serviced object.
You will also need to provide a number of documents related to the contract for the exploitation of common property. They must be accompanied by a diagram of external power supply and power distribution for individual loads. Most of them can be found upon receipt of technical specifications for electrical connection.
Submitting an application and concluding a contract
The rules for connecting to power supply networks presuppose contacting the found network organization that owns energy facilities and submitting an application for connection. A sample of it can be found on the website of the selected company.
If the customer does not know which network organization to contact with the application, they can try to find it through the local government.
The procedure for registration of connection to power grids involves the timely submission of pre-collected documents to the selected grid company and the subsequent conclusion of an agreement. They can be submitted only after the connection request has been approved by the relevant services.
Connecting garden partnerships
For SNT and ONT, a special scheme for concluding agreements with network companies has been officially approved, thanks to which it is possible to achieve quite tangible advantages:
- they receive the status of the only legal representatives of gardeners and truck farmers when deciding questions about connecting their land plots to the power grids;
- it is possible to get rid of the confusion of individual appeals of private owners on the same issue, since it is approved by the general meeting of SNT or ONT;
- the procedure for connecting becomes clearer.
For partnerships in this situation, it is enough to submit an application for connection to the grid company, the basis for which is the decision of the general meeting. For gardeners and gardeners, this is an appeal to SNT or ONT with a request to connect them to electricity with further consideration of the issue by the partnership itself.
The rules for connecting to the power supply networks of garden associations came into force from the beginning of 2019.
Actions after the conclusion of the contract
After the completion of the activities related to the signing of the technical connection agreement, it will be necessary to complete all the work listed in the TU, and inform the network organization about it. The invited representative of the power grids, together with the person in charge from Energosbyt, draw up an act of acceptance of works, which is the legal basis for joining.
In some cases, such an act can be obtained online by filling out the form previously offered by the network service.
Direct power supply should be expected only after the conclusion of the contract with the local supply organization.
How much does it cost to connect to communications
In many information sources, we are talking about a notional amount of 550 rubles, which in fact is just a payment for the very fact of connection, after which the user is "shipped" the power assigned to him. Moreover, the company undertakes to issue it in the amount of about 15 kW at the point of connection, located no further than 25 meters from the border of the residential area.
When clarifying this issue, it turns out that when calculating the costs, one has to take into account the location of the pole, from which a branch is made to connect to power grids. It is for a distance of 25 meters that the user will have to lay a cable of the required cross-section for his money right up to the house.
In this case, the problem of balance sheet ownership reappears, which is linked to the border of division of areas of responsibility.
Thus, each user in addition to the "on duty" 550 rubles will have to spend on the following activities:
- buying a cable and paying for its laying from the distribution pole to the house;
- purchase of an electric meter with one tariff or multi-tariff;
- purchase and installation of a switchboard;
- payment for the installation of equipment placed inside the cabinet.
Selected network companies offer customers a comprehensive service called turnkey connectivity. At the same time, its specialists guarantee the implementation of the entire range of connection activities, including internal work. This usually costs 50-60 thousand rubles (prices for the Moscow region). You can save money if you use the services of a local electrician licensed for this type of work. The result is an amount of 20-30 thousand.
