Overview of storm water inlets type DK

Storm sewage is an important system for the drainage of rain / snow runoff from the site. An important element of communication is a storm water inlet. By shape, there are square, rectangular and round models. The round one is made of cast iron in accordance with GOST. The drainage system element has different diameters depending on the model. Prices for cast-iron round storm water inlets of the DK type are approximately the same and can only slightly change up / down depending on the region of sale.

DK type storm water inlet device

Round storm water inlet (DK) plays a primary role in the stormwater drainage system. Initially, atmospheric water enters its reservoir. The construction looks like this:

  • Reservoir for collecting rainwater (basket). From it, the effluents are further sent to the storm drain.
  • Trash box. A kind of filter in the tank, which prevents clogging of the sewer gutters - prevents small debris, earth, sand from entering the collector.
  • Protective grill. Installed on top of the tank and serves as a primary filter - prevents large debris from entering the drain.

Not all models of cast-iron storm water inlets are equipped with sand traps. If present, the filter must be cleaned regularly. This will avoid strong odors during periods of evaporation from the moisture reservoir.

Specifications

All cast-iron storm water inlets have specific technical characteristics, which are calculated in terms of rated load, dimensions and weight. There are the following types of cast iron DKs:

  • DK1. Dimensions - 86X12 cm.Weight - 97 kg. Load - 15 tons. A shut-off device is not provided.
  • DK2 B125 1-60. Dimensions - 85X10 cm.Weight - 88 kg. Load in tons - 12.5 tons.
  • DK2 B1501-60. Size - 80x8 cm.Weight - 105 kg. Load - 15 tons.

The weight of the entire element is indicated with the grille. Moreover, it is often heavier than the reservoir itself. A third of the total mass, as a rule, is a basket, the rest is the weight of the lattice.

Quality products must have appropriate markings and GOST.

Advantages and disadvantages

All cast-iron storm water inlets are manufactured according to the standards from durable cast iron SCH-20. Manufacturing method - vibration casting. Thanks to this method of production, DCs have the following advantages:

  • high strength and resistance to mechanical stress;
  • anti-corrosion properties and inertness to aggressive media;
  • high throughput (volume of wastewater / unit of time);
  • environmental friendliness and safety for the environment;
  • relatively favorable price.

If we talk about the shortcomings of the product, then first of all it is its weight, which requires special equipment during installation. It is important to provide for the presence of a special anti-corrosion coating, otherwise the storm water inlet will rust. In order to avoid theft when installing a cast-iron DK, it is better to provide a locking mechanism.

DIY installation of a recreation center

The main difficulty in installing a storm water inlet is to move it from place to place due to its impressive weight. The rest of the installation process is relatively simple:

  1. The pit is being prepared. Its depth should exceed the height of the tank by 25-30 cm. The stock is allocated for the construction of a sand-concrete cushion. The width of the pit should exceed the parameters of the basket by 3-5 cm.
  2. The bottom of the pit is carefully rammed and covered with a layer of wet sand. It is also well compacted. The thickness of the sand cushion is 5-15 cm.
  3. The next layer is poured concrete mortar, which will work as a base for the tank. The thickness of the interlayer is at least 10 cm.Wait for the concrete pad to set properly.
  4. A stormwater inlet basket is installed on the fill and connected to the drain gutters. All joints are coated with sealant.
  5. A layer of concrete is poured from the side of the walls in order to securely fix the DC in the ground. As a result, groundwater will not be able to displace the storm water inlet over time.
  6. The installed tank is covered with a protective grid.

In order for a do-it-yourself storm sewer to work properly, it is important to regularly clean the storm water inlet basket and its sand traps. With this care, it is possible to prevent the accumulation of mud, debris in the tank. You need to clean the basket once every 2-4 months, more often in summer and rainy seasons.

The cost of a cast-iron storm water inlet may vary depending on its model and manufacturer. Also, the price varies somewhat across the regions of Russia. On average, the cost of a recreation center made in accordance with GOST is 4000 - 5300 rubles.
