What are the causes of air conditioner noise?
If a neighbor's air conditioner interferes, you must first talk to the neighbor himself. Perhaps he is not aware of the problem.
The most common concern for neighbors is the outdoor unit of the air conditioner. They usually mount it as close as possible to the indoor module, which means near the windows. Therefore, the fact that the neighbors have installed an air conditioner, you can guess about a measured hum, sometimes quite loud.
If the neighbors have recently installed an air conditioner and it is buzzing, the reason may be hiding in an illiterate installation:
- Vibration dampening rubber pads not supplied... Mount them between the legs and brackets. If not, vibration from the outdoor unit is directly transmitted to the brackets and the wall;
- Bolts are screwed in near metal fittings... If the location for the fastenings is not chosen well, the vibration is transmitted directly to the metal reinforcement, the noise is very strong, it seems that the wall is shaking. To change the situation, reconcile the neighbors and the air conditioner will only work by transferring the mountings;
- The cover or grille vibrates... This happens with cheap models of climate technology. You can restore silence by removing unnecessary parts (some of them are needed only for beauty) or installing gaskets. Decorative and non-working elements are usually useless, but during operation they buzz and vibrate.
If the equipment has been working for several months and neighbors began to complain about the air conditioner, the possible causes of the noise are:
- Compressor worn out... If it has been working for many years, but preventive measures have not been taken, hum, vibration may appear;
- The fan can also make a loud crackling sound.if its blades begin to touch the grating, frozen pieces of ice trapped inside the twigs.
The problem may lie in the indoor unit as well. In panel houses, the walls conduct sounds well enough and the neighbors can hear the air conditioner perfectly.
Reasons for the noise of the indoor unit:
- The fan is noisy: the fan bearing is broken, the blades cling to the grilles (over time, the plastic is deformed) or ice build-up;
