What is inverter type wall split systems

Modern air conditioners are divided into two types: inverter and non-inverter air conditioners. What is it and what are the features of inverter split systems?

The principle of operation of the inverter air conditioner

The inverter-type air conditioner motor is supplied with current through the converter, changing the speed of the motor. Electric current, falling on the control board, is converted to obtain the desired frequency. The main advantage of this technology is that the speed of the compressor motor can be changed in a very wide range, reaching more than three thousand revolutions per minute, increasing the productivity of the device. The engine runs at increased speed until it reaches the required indoor temperature. Then the motor of the inverter air conditioning system slows down gradually, without stopping and maintaining the reached temperature.

The system does not wear out as quickly as there are no on-off cycles. When the compressor of a conventional air conditioner is turned off, the lubricant is drained and the compressor runs dry for a few seconds. This leads to wear of the parts.

Saving electricity

At maximum operating intensity, split systems of inverter air conditioners consume 15 percent more electricity than conventional ones operating at constant maximum power.

But conventional air conditioners work in cycles. Inverter devices reduce power when the temperature reaches the required values. Non-inverter air conditioners that consume a lot of electricity at the time of each start of the system, since all of its nodes operate at the power limit:

  • due to the presence of an inverter, the compressor operates smoothly and more accurately taking into account the outside air temperature;
  • Inverter air conditioners have 30 - 65% less electricity consumption (with the right choice of mode). The temperature produced by the device is more constant;
  • To obtain the required air temperature, this device spends 30 - 50% less time;
  • They work quieter;
  • Less load on the general power grid, less heating of wires.

The price of inverter air conditioning systems is about 30% higher.

Most often, such devices are installed in rooms for sleep and rest, because they work almost silently.

Cons of split systems of inverter type

  • They are expensive;
  • They are quite sensitive to non-constant voltage in the network;
  • Split systems of inverter air conditioners are very heavy (especially the outdoor unit);
  • They do not turn on if the outside temperature is less than -10 or more than +41 degrees.
