Types of remote controls for the air conditioner: wired, wall-mounted

The remote control of the air conditioner is the most important part, without which the operation of the device becomes much more difficult.

There are two types of air conditioner controllers:

  • infrared wireless;
  • wall wired.

Infrared control panels

Infrared, unlike wired air conditioner control panels, are widely used in household and semi-industrial systems: window, floor, wall, ceiling, duct.

The communication between the control panel and the electronic control boards is carried out by means of infrared radiation.

The remotes for the most modern models are equipped with a display backlight and a built-in thermometer. Thus, temperature control is carried out not in the area where the indoor unit is located, but directly where people are.

In addition, there are consoles equipped with self-diagnostic systems. Indication of LEDs on the case of the indoor unit indicates this or that malfunction.

Despite the many amenities, infrared remote controls for air conditioners have a number of disadvantages:

  • Infrared radiation reaches only 8 meters;
  • If several air conditioners are installed in the same room, separated by transparent walls, they can all respond to commands given to only one.

So that the remote control is not lost and is always in sight, all manufacturers complete it with a wall holder.

Wall-mounted control panels

The wired remotes for the air conditioner are connected by thin wiring to the HVAC control center.

Wall-mounted air conditioner control panels are used in semi-industrial duct, cassette, wall and ceiling systems. With the help of such a remote control, you can control the air conditioning of an entire huge workshop. Distance in this case is not a hindrance. One remote control is connected to several air conditioners.

Cons of wired remotes for air conditioners:

  • inability to move;
  • the need for installation and wire pulling.

A special thin cable is used for installation. The wired air conditioner control panels are equipped with a diagnostic function; at the request of the customer, a temperature sensor is also mounted in the case. Temperature measurement is possible in the room itself and near the evaporator of the indoor unit. That allows you to optimally select the operating mode of the air conditioner.

The commands transmitted from the wall-mounted air conditioner controller are the same as those sent from the wireless infrared controller.
