Refueling and refueling air conditioners
The first filling of the air conditioner with freon is carried out at the factory, where it is pumped into the outdoor unit under pressure. The amount of refrigerant should be increased if the length of the refrigerant piping was increased during installation. Part of the freon may leak out if the ends of the copper pipes were incorrectly rolled during the installation of the air conditioner. The user will be aware of the insufficient amount of refrigerant approximately one month after installation. The air blown out of the appliance will not be cold enough.
After repairing the cooling pipe or the entire device, it is also often necessary to refuel the air conditioner with freon.
Natural leakage of freon
Even a perfectly working air conditioner has a small refrigerant leak of no more than 8 percent per year.
This is a normal phenomenon, typical of even the most expensive devices.
In this connection, once every 24 months, you need to additionally fill the air conditioner with freon.
If you do not refuel, the amount of refrigerant drops to a critical one, the load on the compressor increases, leading to the burnout of the latter. As a result, savings on refueling will translate into expenses for compressor repairs.
The need to refuel the air conditioner
Each consumer can independently determine the need to refuel the air conditioner with freon:
- Warm air is blown out;
- Ice or frost freezes on any part of the outdoor unit.
If such signs appear, it is necessary to stop the operation of the device and call the service department. It is not advisable to refuel the air conditioner using the instructions.
The refrigerant must be under a certain pressure. Increased pressure, as well as excess freon, can accelerate the breakdown of the air conditioner.
Service providers do not refuel for free. This service is not a warranty service, so the waste cannot be avoided. The masters will not take money only if the freon leaked out due to an illiterate installation of the device and then if the service center did it. For example, the diameters of copper pipes for air conditioners may be incorrectly selected, poorly rolled, punched or severely bent.
The cost of the service will depend on the quality of freon, the price of different brands is different.
How is it done
First, the master tests the system for leaks. All punched parts are changed, with the obligatory consideration of the diameter of the copper pipes for the air conditioner, the connections that let the freon pass through are altered. And now you can fill in new freon.
