Parquet adhesive requirements
The requirements for the adhesive composition are due to the peculiarity of the material. The deck consists of small dicelaid in a specific order on a solid base. The last to speak concrete screed or plywood backing, that is, the material with a different coefficient of thermal expansion... This means that the parquet adhesive must hold the flooring and compensate for this difference.
If the slats are pressed too tightly, the wood will deform under the influence of temperature or humidity. If the parquet is laid loosely, the flooring will crumble and chip. Parquet adhesive should maintain a certain elasticity throughout the entire service life, so that a buffer remains between the concrete base and the deck.

- The glue should be safe for the tree and for human health. Toxic components are excluded.
- To prevent displacement of the dice or the appearance of a squeak, you need to choose a composition, non-shrinking.
- The mixture must maintain elasticity during installation and later.
- Long service life Is another important requirement. Parquet is designed to be used for half a century and the adhesive should last no less.
Parquet glue is expensive. It is a thick substance that is poorly absorbed by wood. Not diluted with water.

Adhesive for parquet on a concrete screed differs in characteristics from the composition for laying on an old wooden floor. It is important to correctly assess the parameters of the composition.

- Structure - determine the purpose of the glue. For fruit dies, do not use a water-based mixture as it absorbs water instantly.
- Working temperature range - if the parquet is laid on a heated floor, the adhesive must withstand heating to at least + 30 ° C.
- Application time - indicates how long the finished solution retains its properties. They choose the one who has the longest application time - 1 hour or more.
- Setting time - the time that will take until the glue completely hardens. Usually it is 1-2 days.
Pay attention to special parameters. In the rooms above the basement, the floor is rather damp. A hydrophobic composition should be chosen.
Varieties of adhesives
- Two-component parquet adhesive - provides the strongest grip. Suitable for working with concrete, plywood, planks and even metal. It has no effect on the wood, even suitable for laying varnished lamellas. It's expensive.
- Dispersive - includes water, but is suitable for use with softwood or oak battens. The composition is safe, non-toxic, odorless.
- Solvent adhesive - based on rubber, rubber. The composition eliminates the appearance of mold or rot, protects the floor from dampness. Compatible with any base. The disadvantage is that the period for complete drying is 5 days.
- One-component - polyurethane or silane. Very easy to handle, but only used when laying on a concrete base.The mixture is economical, does not shrink, hardens for a long time - 4–5 days.
Although wood is a 100% natural material, it is worth choosing a synthetic compound that does not contain water for laying parquet.

- Before laying, perform alignment. The surface must be perfectly flat.
- Ash, uncoated oak, larch material glued to plywood. If the dies are small - up to 420/70 mm, you can take water-based glue. If more, a polyurethane composition is required, preferably two-component.
- Fruit parquet very unstable. For it, use solvent-based glue, without water. For a massive glued board, anhydrous compositions with increased elasticity are taken.
- Engineering boards or modules put on plywood and select a material with increased elasticity. If the flooring is laid on a cement screed, only a polyurethane compound is suitable.
- To a fragile concrete screed glues any kind of wood, but for this they use only two-component mixtures with the highest peel rates.
- If laid artistic block parquet, with inserts from different breeds, the choice of the adhesive composition is also entrusted to the master.
