Ventilation of the battery room, workshop

The ventilation of the battery room must be equipped according to a special scheme. Continuous electrolysis proceeds with the release of harmful gases: hydrogen sulphide, lead, acids. Therefore, the ventilation of the battery rooms is mounted separately from the general ventilation ducts of the building.

Features of ventilation of battery shops

  • Battery room
    Battery room

    The main task of the exhaust ventilation section of battery rooms is to remove all harmful substances. They are formed in the lower third of the room, so about 70% of the exhaust power should be concentrated at the bottom and only 30% at the top. The maximum permissible concentration of sulfuric acid is 0.001 grams per cubic meter of air. Such concentration is allowed 150 cm from the floor, but not higher;

  • According to the requirements for the safe maintenance of alkaline batteries, ventilation in the battery shop must ensure double air exchange, as well as a hydrogen concentration of no more than 0.7%;
  • Since the systems are constantly exposed to aggressive substances, they are completed exclusively from refractory and explosion-proof boxes, fans, pipes;
  • Fan switches are mounted outside the battery room. The entrances to the premises are equipped with vestibules and are hermetically sealed.

Installation rules for ventilation in battery rooms

In accumulator rooms, only forced supply and exhaust ventilation with mechanical traction is equipped. In addition to it, a natural exhaust hood is also installed, which completely changes the air in the room in an hour. An air support is organized for the vestibule.

Separate systems are installed for alkaline and acid batteries.

The power supply of the charging rectifier is connected to the power supply of the fan and when the latter is turned off, the first one stops working.

If the batteries are sealed, it will be enough to equip only the natural ventilation system of the battery, which completely changes the air in the room twice an hour.

It is strictly forbidden to discharge chimneys from accumulator batteries of any type into the general exhaust system.

The air is discharged through a special channel that rises one and a half meters or more above the roof. The exit is covered with an umbrella to prevent rain or snow from entering.

The temperature in the battery room should be up to 25 degrees. The temperature regime is ensured by the efficient operation of ventilation in the battery shop.
